Kids Martial Arts

Most parents know that martial arts training builds strength, fitness, and coordination. At Combat Defence Systems, we also teach the skills that matter off the mat: focused concentration, listening, awareness, confidence, humility, respect, and self-belief. Our kids program is divided by age so every child trains with peers at the right developmental level. Classes are held in a modern, matted facility with qualified instructors who specialise in teaching children.

Little Lions

Our Little Lions classes are fun, fast-paced, and focused on building positive attributes. Through purpose-developed drills, your child will improve communication, confidence, and focus. The physical curriculum develops coordination, balance, strength, and fitness.

Classes are kickboxing-based, blending Boxing, Muay Thai, and Jun Fan (Bruce Lee) Kickboxing. This is the pathway to our Junior JKD or Junior Muay Thai classes from age 7.

7-15

Junior / Teens Jeet Kune Do

Essentially MMA for self-defence, these classes combine Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do philosophy with Filipino Kali and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Students learn practical self-defence skills while developing coordination, confidence, and focus.

Kali stick and movement drills enhance reflexes and cognitive skills. BJJ teaches ground control and submissions. Martial arts is not just about kicking and punching. It is about helping your child grow stronger, physically and mentally, while learning to respect themselves and others.

Junior / Teens Muay Thai

Muay Thai is the traditional martial art of Thailand, renowned for its fitness benefits and solid structure. Students learn punches, kicks, knees, and elbows -- the art of eight limbs. It is highly effective and provides a total body workout.

Frequently Asked Questions

From what age can my child start?

We accept children from age 4. Little Lions classes are for 4-6 year olds. Junior and teen classes are for 7-15 year olds.

Are classes by the term or ongoing?

Our classes are membership-based and run continuously throughout the year.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yes. We offer a free trial class to ensure we are the right fit for your child and family. Memberships are flexible with no lock-in contracts.

How often should my child attend?

As often as possible. We understand children participate in multiple sports and have homework. That is why we offer flexible memberships with no lock-in contracts.

Is there a belt system?

Yes, but it is used to encourage students to be their best at their current level before learning more advanced techniques. When your child is ready, they will be invited to grade. There is never pressure to grade within a set time frame.
